This Blog Finally Has a Name (and it glows!)
Goodbye, drinkYourOJ by Justin Hearn. Hello, The Civic Node.
Introducing: The Civic Node
Short version: This publication finally has a name and a look that match what it’s been doing all along. Formerly published under drinkYourOJ — same writer, tighter identity.
Why rebrand now?
When I first hit “publish,” I left the name on autopilot. It sounded like a gamer tag, not a publication about systems, power, and protocol. But after weeks of writing, the voice showed up: structured, skeptical, occasionally neon. It deserved a proper masthead.
Thus: The Civic Node. A name that actually says what’s happening here — the civic sphere behaves like a network, and we can inspect it, debug it, and upgrade it.
What’s changing (a.k.a. the glow-up)
A clean sans-serif wordmark, newsprint vibes, and one electric highlight.
Posts and social cards that look like they belong to the same universe.
A bit more navigable: clearer sections, easier archive dives.
What’s not
The focus: AI, DePIN, monetary policy, history, governance, incentives.
The voice: educational but opinionated, with just enough sarcasm to keep it human.
Why this matters
Think of it like putting on real clothes for the first day of school after a summer of wearing the same t-shirt. Same person, sharper presentation. The wrapper finally matches the work.
A quick plug: Referral program
Most media tells you what happened. I tell you what it means. While others chase headlines about crypto prices and Fed announcements, I connect the dots between monetary policy, decentralization technology, and the quiet revolution in how power actually works.
Your friends probably get their crypto news from Twitter threads and price alerts. They’re missing the bigger picture. I write regular analysis that cuts through the noise — no fluff, no get-rich-quick schemes. Just clear explanations of how these systems work, why they matter, and what you should actually pay attention to.
If you know someone who should be reading this, don’t stay silent. You get rewarded for sharing quality content.
How it works:
Share The Civic Node using your referral link (you’ll find it under the “Share” button on any post). When your friends subscribe — free or paid — you get the credit.
Collect rewards:
5 referrals → 1 month comp
10 referrals → 3 months comp
25 referrals → 6 months comp
Simple as that. Send the link, spread the signal, and get perks for doing it.
So: welcome to The Civic Node. If you’re new, you’ve arrived just as the lights came on. If you’ve been here since drinkYourOJ, thanks for surviving the beta phase.
— Justin
PS: If you ever catch two neon accents fighting on the same page, treat it like a system error and file a bug report in the comments.
